Most of the questions below are related to actions that you
can perform as an advertiser on the website and relates to
the advertisements that you have created or are about to
create. In order to perform some of the tasks below you will
need to log in, in order to manage your ad(s).
Answer: Navigate to the section or
category of the website where you would like to add your
advertisement, click on the "Add your ad here" link at the
top of the page, select a Listing package, complete
your purchase, create the ad and save it. From the member
index you are able to edit, add images, view and delete.
Also see our help page.
Answer: From the member index area, you can edit, delete, add
images, and view all of your ads. Also, the
Get Featured option (an
optional feature) is available from the member index; where
you can opt to have your ad appear with a highlighted
background on search results and browse pages, get top of
page placement on browse pages, and be randomly featured on
the home page of WantedInBoston.com.
Answer: The number of photo's that you can upload with your ad
depends upon the type of ad and the length of the ad. See
the individual sections and categories for details.
Answer: No, you do not have to create the small thumbnail
images for your ads, they will be automatically created for
you. The first photo that you upload will become the default
image for your ad and a thumbnail will be generated for you.
Answer: Having a Google map that displays your location is a
feature that is provided automatically for every ad. If
however you choose not to display your address, you may
either leave the address field blank or by placing a space
in the address field your ad will display with the icon
located at the geographic center of your town or city.
Answer: Good question! There are a lot of reasons to want
smaller image files, smaller file size means faster loading
and faster viewing for your customer. Check out our
resources page for more details
as well as for tools that can help you do that.
Free or low cost options
available.
Answer: It may be that your original image is smaller that the
default minimum that our site is trying to display your
image at. Images with dimensions smaller than 425 x 319 are
scaled to that minimum. Try using an image that is at least
425 pixels by 319 pixels.
Answer: If you've forgotten your password that you originally
signed up with, simply click on the Forgot Password link on
the Member Sign In page and we'll send it to you or
Answer: Getting Featured
is easy to do, and it's an optional service that we provide.
For more details on getting your ad featured, visit the
Help page to learn more
about the benefits of having your ad featured.
Answer: This one you can't fix, we'll have to fix that for
you. Simply send us an email with your
suggested category or sub-category in the Subject line
along with a brief description and we will do our best to
accommodate your request. As you can imagine we can't have
every category be a main category, in fact we may already
have what you're looking for in a sub-category or even in a
general category, but we will do our best. I'm certain that
we haven't thought of everything!
Answer: The short answer: You're seeing this because we're
still in our "pre-launch" stage, and it's the extra white
space between the html tags that is causing it. Which will
be fixed when the new visual interface is in place because
it will strip out the spaces when you save your ad. So, in
the meantime you can: 1) email us and
we'll fix it for you or 2) If you've got a text or
source code editor that strips those spaces out like the
free one
that's on our resource page,
simply highlight the code, run the effect, and then paste it
into your ad.
Answer: First, see the previous FAQ. Otherwise, we've also
seen instances when replacing the placeholder images from
the templates that don't have the border attribute for the
image set to '0' (zero) as in <img border='0' src=...
etc...>, you may see images shifting unexpectedly. If
so, just add the border attribute to your image tag.
Answer: Yes.
Answer: Yes, and for more details check out some of the
additional information on the
resource page.
Answer: You will want to add the target='_blank' attribute to
your html link which will open the page in a new window as
seen here <a target='_blank' href='http://www.WantedInBoston.com'>.
For more information see the
resource page and the section on
HTML and tutorials.
Answer: Other than the obvious option to pay a graphic
designer or hire a professional ad
agency, there are many answers to this question and a lot
of resources available to you. First, I would suggest starting with some of the free
or low cost items listed on our
resource page. Second, we've created a number of
pre-designed templates
for you in order to jumpstart ad design. By simply replacing
the placeholder text using your favorite HTML editor and
replacing the placeholder images with your company logo or
other image, you're well on your way to creating a
compelling ad. Add to that a
number of great tutorials for
cropping and sizing images, and you haven't even had to
search the web for a single resource. There's even links to
tutorials
on HTML if you're interested.
If the above still looks like more than you want to
handle yourself, send us an email, and we'll see what we can
do to help you out. By help, we mean, help with some of the
basics, help with cropping or sizing an image, using your
images to get you up and running. What it doesn't mean is;
we can't obviously become and provide ad content or logo
design services etc.. those are the types of services that
an ad agency or a graphic designer would provide. In fact,
if you're looking for those types of services check out the
graphic, logo design, and media services available from
advertisers on this website.
